Summative BCD Individual Task

Most of you probably love exploring but you don’t want to get lost, do you?! You know that maps/geographic co-ordinates can be really useful!
·         Read the following questions below. You will now investigate this during your free time as homework.
·          Investigate new, interesting and relevant facts related to this topic etc.Include pictures, maps etc. to support your information. It will be on paper in class.

·         VERY IMPORTANT:  Do not leave this task until the last minute! It is homework and you should be working on this every day (minimum 15 minutes per day) for the next two weeks if you want to do well! This is an individual summative task

·         You will then write a paragraph in class based on what you have investigated from various sources (library books, encyclopedia, internet etc.).

 Investigate this subject, using the questions below to guide you. You can also investigate extra information to show you are interested or curious to know more…
1.      Who invented the first maps? Where/when why were they made/ what were they made of..? 50 words approximately.
2.      Modern technology: The GPS: Who/why/when/where was it invented etc?  50 words approx.
3.      What maps/instruments /tools did Christopher Columbus use/need to go and discover America?  50 words approx.
4.      Why is the prime meridian in Greenwich? Who invented it? Why did they use it? When/where was it invented?  50 words approx.

  Task to be completed in class: Week: 14th -18th November 2016 (according to time table).
  INDIVIDUAL TASK.
  You can bring in to class notes with 30 key words
   5 pictures/images
   Your bibliography (which you have prepared at home/library on a piece of paper) to help you.
   Remember, you can include information, maps and pictures that will help with your explanations.
  Letter Minimum 120-150 words.
  Your teacher will be assessing criteria: B C D.
  Remember to check your spelling and grammar carefully.
  Keep numbers approximate (e.g. about 3,000 metres, not 3,108 metres)
  Keep your English simple but correct! Use titles, sub-titles, underline key words to organize your work.

   Do not copy huge chunks from Internet, E.g. copy and paste. This is PLAGIARISM, the internet is to guide and help you, but you have to do the work in your own words.
